Individual accountability for remote companies

I was feeling frustrated for being distracted easily and not getting work done. Being alone in a place makes me wander and not focus on the task I want to finish. I could get a nap, and no one will notice, get lazy feels like a good idea. This situation started when our company went full remote, and I was working from home. I couldn't feel like working. I was at the wrong place.

One day, when doing exercise at home, I thought the same. I'm at the wrong place. I should be working out at the gym. I do what I suppose to do, but the results are not the same. It takes longer, and I don't feel like it is my best life's work.

Some people like me need other people around to be in the zone of getting things done. So, it's a connection between the mental and the physical space. I started to go and work at the office, where I could be around others in the same mood. We all go for the same reason, right?. Maybe some people are better at this, and they don't need people around to focus. But I do need some accountability to give my best. If someone next to me is working hard, I surely won't be thinking of getting a nap.

Don't be frustrated if you don't feel productive working where you are. Instead, try working in a place where others are working too. Having fun where others are having fun too. Find what works for you and keep doing it.

Don't force your method on others. Instead, let each one find their path.
